MedRef Terms & Conditions

By accessing or using the MedRef platform (“MedRef”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the MedRef platform and services, whether as a healthcare provider sending or receiving referrals, or as a registered medical entity.

1. Nature of the Service

  • MedRef is a neutral digital intermediary that enables registered healthcare providers and entities to send, receive, and manage patient referrals through a secure online system.
  • MedRef does not provide medical advice, does not diagnose, does not make clinical decisions, and does not interfere with or alter any medical diagnosis, treatment, or recommendation.
  • All medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or opinions are solely the responsibility of the referring or receiving licensed healthcare professional or entity.

2. Eligibility

Only licensed healthcare professionals, institutions, or entities registered and authorized to practice under Qatari law are permitted to use MedRef’s referral services.

3. Patient Privacy & Confidentiality

  • You must comply with all applicable Qatari data protection and privacy laws, including but not limited to Law No. (13) of 2016 concerning the Protection of the Privacy of Personal Data.
  • You must obtain explicit informed patient consent before sharing any personal health information (PHI) or initiating a referral.
  • MedRef stores and processes referral data in compliance with Qatari data protection regulations and applies industry-standard encryption and security protocols.
  • MedRef will not share patient data with any third parties without consent or legal obligation.

4. User Responsibilities

By using MedRef, you agree that:

  • You will only share accurate and up-to-date patient information necessary for medical referrals.
  • You will not upload, transmit, or distribute any content that is false, misleading, unlawful, or violates patient confidentiality.
  • You will use the platform solely for legitimate medical referral purposes and in accordance with your professional obligations under Qatari law.

5. Limitation of Liability

  • MedRef is not responsible or liable for any medical decisions, diagnoses, or treatments provided by any healthcare provider; consequences resulting from delayed or incomplete referrals; or misuse or mishandling of patient information by users of the platform.
  • MedRef is not a healthcare provider and does not warrant the competence, availability, or outcomes of care from any medical professional or institution on the platform.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

MedRef provides its platform “as is” and makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, about the quality, availability, or accuracy of the service. We disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MedRef and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, losses, damages, or liabilities arising out of:

  • Your use or misuse of the platform;
  • Breach of these Terms;
  • Violation of applicable laws or patient rights.

8. Modification & Termination

  • MedRef may update or modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via the platform.
  • We may suspend or terminate your access to the platform if you violate these Terms or applicable law.

9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Qatar. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Qatari courts .
